Request AccessGreat question. We don't replace SDPC — we make it actually usable.
We don't replace SDPC. We make it usable.
SDPC has the vendor database and agreements. We add the workflow layer that tells you exactly what to do with each vendor for YOUR district — without the login, search, and guesswork.
The dashboard manages everything else SOPPA requires — all in one simple interface.
Track all SOPPA requirements across seven categories: Governance, Vendor Management, Data Transparency, Parental Rights, Security, Breach Management, and Website Compliance.
View all your approved vendors, track agreement expiration dates, manage custom agreements, and see what needs attorney review.
Generate professional compliance reports for board meetings or internal reviews. Shows what's complete, what needs attention, and what to do next.
Document your privacy officer designation, track training completion, and maintain all required governance documentation.
Know exactly what to do if a breach happens. Track notification timelines, required postings, and state reporting requirements.
Track required website postings, renewal deadlines (twice yearly), and what needs to be published when agreements are signed.
Use the email system when you need a fast vendor answer. Login to the dashboard when you need to run reports, track compliance across all categories, or prepare for board meetings. Both work together to keep you compliant without the stress.
I'm a former K12 IT Director and founder of SMARTpath Education Services, LLC, a K-12 technology consulting company. We help districts with a number of things, including app development, tech planning, consulting, STEM, compliance management, etc. I built SOPPA Simplified because I watched districts spend countless hours chasing vendors, navigating SDPC, reviewing agreements, and drowning in compliance paperwork.
Let's be honest: SOPPA compliance is complex. It practically requires a law degree to understand all the requirements. But here's what doesn't need to be complicated — the vendor tracking, the SDPC navigation, the agreement reviews, the email chains.
That's the paperwork burden we take off your plate. We act as an extension of your team, helping you process through the administrative headache while you focus on the technical and legal decisions only you can make.
We are NOT attorneys and this is NOT legal advice.
Our system helps you track vendor agreements and manage the administrative burden of SOPPA compliance based on publicly available information and requirements.
You should ALWAYS review all data and seek guidance from your district's legal counsel for compliance decisions.
We have questions too. SOPPA is complex, and we're here to help with the paperwork — not to replace your attorney.
This system was built specifically to help Illinois K-12 districts navigate their unique compliance challenges, SDPC workflows, and state-specific requirements.
The honest answers to what you're probably wondering.
We'll research the vendor, contact them for their DPA if needed, and update you via email with what we find. If it needs attorney review (Exhibit H), we'll flag that clearly and give you next steps. You're not left hanging — we do the legwork.
Custom agreements stay in SDPC where they belong. We track them in your district record in SOPPA Simplified and monitor expiration dates. When you email about a vendor with a custom agreement, the system recognizes it and responds accordingly.
Need to negotiate a new custom agreement with a vendor? We'll handle that too — reaching out to the vendor, getting the agreement set up, and making sure it's properly tracked.
We flag any agreement with Exhibit H language and tell you it needs attorney review before approval. We never tell you an Exhibit H agreement is "approved" — we give you the information to take to your attorney.
Remember: We're not attorneys. When legal review is needed, we make that crystal clear.
This is why we emphasize that you should always review data and consult your legal counsel. We pull from SDPC and publicly available information, but you're the final decision-maker for your district.
We help with the administrative burden — you maintain the compliance responsibility. If you spot something that doesn't look right, just reply to the email and we'll research it further.
For vendors already in our system: Automated response in seconds.
For vendors not in our system yet: We research them in SDPC, find the best agreement option (sometimes there are multiple), add it to the system, and respond — usually within 2 hours during business days (8am-5pm Central).
For general questions: A real person responds, not a support ticket system.
Our system grows as your districts adopt new vendors. And here's a bonus: SDPC agreements get updated all the time. We monitor for better agreement options and can let you know when there's a reason to switch from an old agreement to a newer one.
Pricing varies based on district size and needs. When you request access, we'll discuss your specific situation and give you a clear quote — no surprises, no hidden fees.
Think of it as the cost of getting hours of your week back. Most districts find the time savings alone justify the investment.
Yes. No long-term contracts, no commitments. If it's not saving you time and reducing your stress, you can cancel. We'd rather you use it because it's helpful, not because you're locked in.
You can export all your compliance data and vendor tracking information before you leave. Your actual vendor agreements live in SDPC, not with us — we just track the status.
After cancellation, we'll retain your data for 30 days in case you change your mind, then permanently delete it.
Fill out this quick form and I'll reach out within 24 hours to discuss your district's needs.
